News of the Centers... Well, since it's been so many months since our last issue of, "The Sometimes Monthly Recycle Rag," there is a lot of news! In fact, too much to put into one little newsletter! Perhaps the best way to catch up on die latest happenings - and to see and hear for yourself what's going on - is to visit one of our Recycletown Re-use and Recycling Yards! As you may already know, GRI's contract was put out to bid last year. GRI entered into a joint venture with West Coast Metals in order to give the County the best possible bid to retain the contract with the County to operate Recycletown and the services provided at the Central Landfill site and at the Healdsburg Transfer Station. The undercurrents and politics involved were most entertaining, but finally, in March 2006, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors awarded GRI and West Coast Metals the contract. So, you will be seeing our smiling, friendly — faces for at least another five years. You will also be seeing new faces at our Recycletown’s in Petaluma and Healdsburg, as we have added staffing in order to better assist the general public. We would like to thank you for your continuous support, and we look forward to seeing you at our yards! A special thanks to Connie Cloak from C2 Alternatives for all of her hard work on our proposal for our new contract! Thank you Connie, and thanks to all of our loyal supporters, and to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency for recognizing the urgency and necessity to move forward with a plan that is ultimately in the best interest for all of the citizens of Sonoma County! Through all of this, and with our partnership with West Coast Metals, GRI has a third location now (in addition to Petaluma and Healdsburg)! It's our Re-usable Materials Yard in Windsor, at 470 Caletti Avenue, off of Shiloh Road, adjacent to West Coast Metals. Our Windsor Re-use has building materials, plumbing materials, electrical materials, household items, bicycles, and so much more! At this time, we also have a large selection of "Star Wars" merchandise! It is all brand new stuff, not used! We acquired this "Star Wars" merchandise last year, when we did a job with Ecohaul, to clean out a warehouse for Lucas Films. If you are a "Star Wars" fan, then this is the place you need to be at! If "Star Wars" made it, we probably have it! All items are priced to sell! One of our services at our Windsor Re-use is to go out into the community in Sonoma County and pick up usable items, such as overstock from businesses. And, do you have usable items that you have saved for a yard sale, but you never have the time for that yard sale? Call us! We will provide you with a tax donation receipt, and your usable items will not be going into the landfill! Our landfill is full, so our garbage is being hauled out of our county. Thus, it is ever so important that everybody take responsibility for seeing to it that usable items get re-used, and we at Windsor Re-use are here to help you do that! Our hours are Mon - Sat, Sam - 3:30pm. We are located at 470 Caletti Avenue, in Windsor, CA. Our phone number is (707) 838-8947. See below, for valuable coupons! Of course, Recycletown Petaluma is still located at the Central Landfill, 500 Mecham Road, Petaluma, CA 94952. We're open 7 days/week, 7am - 4pm. The phone number is (707) 795-3660. And, our Recycletown Healdsburg is still located at the Healdsburg Transfer Station, 166 Alexander Valley Road, Healdsburg, CA. Recycletown Healdsburg is open 7 days/week, 8am - 4pm. The phone number is (707) 433-0321. At both of these locations, we have areas for you to drop off your recyclables and reusables, and while you're there, you can shop for all of those items mat you just can't live without and that you can't find anywhere else, nor at the lowest prices such as we have!
